hey all, i have an alpina lil worse for wear in the body work but a real fit engine i use it for drifting on a 3.9 diff, but when the ground is bone dry drifting in 3rd is a bit of a mission you can feel that the car just needs that little bit more to accomplish this so was thinking about skimming the head, any1 had any experience in this os no wat a safe amount is to take of it if any at all

all help needed, Many thanks Taylor

Not heard of anyone doing it TBO. You may get a slight improvement but the best option would be to drop a 328i engine in or a M3 engine even better.

328 motors are cheap as well

328 engine is easy to tune to say 230-240bhp with a re-map, m50 intake and induction kit

keep the alpina at least it is an iron block and and probably alredy has nice cams in it already
I cant think of any easy gains for you as pulling off the haed just to skim is a lot of work for little gains
you could fit the crank rods and pistons from a M54b30 that would give you a 3 litre motor but probably cheaper to go the m3 motor

You would need a set of cams as well as mods listed to even get close to 230hp
