Hello all, first post on here, I have to say - what a great site!

I thought I would let you know what I was up to and would appreciate any thoughts and opinions. After a trip to the Ring in the family estate (E61 530d) I decided to have a go at preparing my own fast road / track day car, never done anything like this before, my skill level - enthusiastic amateur! Several months later I have finally bought an E36 323i with 92k miles, 2 owners, good history, interior and exterior in great condition but looks like it hasn't had a service for at least a year.

    Action so far:
Compression test - all cylinders in good order
Spark plugs - looked in old but in good order, new ones fitted
Engine flush, oil and filter - 6.5 litres of brown sludge removed, replaced with Castrol Magnatec

    Plan of attack:
    K&N 57i induction kit
Performance exhaust - Scorpion? (concerns about noise level?)
Sports suspension - Weitec sports kit (although would it be better to go straight on for a coil over kit?)
    Discs, pads, braided hoses.
    Wheel and tyres
Strip as much out all the interior, shed as much weight as I can (any value in selling the interior?)

Hoping to end up with a fun car for weekends, track days and an occasional trip to Germany.

Sorry, bit of an epic post!

    sounds good mate!
not sure about other stuff but id go straight for a decent set of coilovers (not sure wich ones, someone else will help with that )
i hear with the 323i its actually a 2.5l engine with a smaller restrictive throttle body on it, and a 325i one bolts straight on for an extra 20bhp

Will take some pics and post them.

Interior is cloth, good condition, pale blue/green colour.

M50 inlet manifold seems to offer the biggest gain, might be a bit beyond me for now.

Apologies, I cannot get my **** computer to let me attach pictures. I am on the lowest security settings and the pop up blocker is turned off but it still keeps blocking me whenever I hit the attach button,

I am using windows Vista business edition, anyone got any suggestions?

The daft part is, it will let me view gentlemans relaxation websites , but not post a piccy of some disc brakes!
