I have a late E36 323i Sport touring which I've completed a rolling restoration on. Such a pretty car, moreso when fitted with a suspension kit and 18" MV1's in it's deep Avus blue.
Anyhow, I digress.
The mods on the engine at the moment are;
- K&N Gen II induction kit with heatshield
- Scorpion cat back exhaust system (single entry pipe, I didn't complete the 328i exhaust swap)
The engine has seen 110K in the hands of it's 1 lady owner and doesn't use a drop of the Mobil 1 0W40 that I serviced it with. The engine is in immaculate condition, verified when I took the cam cover off to replace the gasket.
I only every run any of my cars on Shell V Power, now V Power Nitro (my Integra Type R loves the stuff).
Since this car is only really a daily driver and I have spent too much already, I don't feel the need for an M50 manifold conversion as I found the quality kit as sold by a vendor on here to be a little prohibitive on cost alone (if the car was a 328i Sport there would be no question).
So, I am after a remap to suit my car with the intake, exhaust and fuelling I use.
The Scorpion get's fitted on Wednesday (not looking forward to the garage trimming my M Technic rear valance) and the induction kit I literally paid for 5 minutes ago.
1 - How much is a remap to cost me? Are you simply pushing more base spark and increasing the AFR to gain spark advance?
2 - What power and more importantly torque gains can be seen running a new calibration with my above mods?
3 - What power and more importantly torque gains can I realise with my above modifications and an M50 intake manifold?
I plan to fit either a 328i Sport LSD from a non traction control car and the same 2.93 FDR or a 3.0 M3 3.15 FDR version at some point.
I appreciate your comments chaps. This is cracking car and lively enough, I just think with 200HP she would be far more entertaining.....
