    Hi
Apologies if this has been mentioned before, I did a search and didn't really find the answer I was looking for.
Basically I have heard this motor can make a quite substantial gain from a chip - my question is where can I get a decent one from, I'm trying to stay clear from eBay and don't really know where to look?

    Thanks

I'm unsure as to where to get a decent chip. What I do know is that the m42 engine is great but it's never going to give you the performance of a 6 cylinder. Chipping is pretty pointless. An exhaust and a performance panel filter or induction kit will give small but unnoticeable gains but will make the car sound better. Other Thant fitting a turbo which is very expensive and loads of work it's just not worth it.

I javelin a 318is coupe with the m4218b engine and if you want to go faster just buy a bigger engine and drop it in. That is also easier said than done because putting in a 6 banger I think means new suspension, brakes, ecu, clocks, everything.m unless you get a cheap downer car I wouldn't bother.

Now talking about diner cars I have a 323 that I will give away for beer money. Search my user name and go to the parts for sale section to find out more and see pics.

Honestly it's not worth doing. I just bought a 528 to drive alongside my 318. The 323 is a friends.

Hope this helps. Pm me if you have any questions.

Also seed endtuning on here. He can remap the m42. It all depends though on what your end goal is. A remap to use 98 octane could probably get you past 150bhp, but again, it depends what your after.

Thanks but I've read that these motors can see a good 10+ bhp from a chip so I'm willing to give it a go

Has anyone tried any of these eBay chips?

    Thanks
