I was just wondering if there is any performance upgrades for an e34 520? I have thaught about an engine conversion and im still considering it but if i can get more performance out of the 520 ill be happy for now. At the moment i have an itg foam airfilter inside the standard air box but tbh id rather a proper induction kit. Anyone know who makes one for the 520? Also is there any performance manifolds/exhaust systems?

Thanks. Looking at the prices of manifolds and forced induction it does definatley seems cheaper to do an engine transplant. I dont think a 525 engine would be worth it as its alot of effort for 20 more bhp. Are there any other engines which will go in and give a decent bhp increase?

yeah loads...look at bm's own model range which goes upto 535's,540's and m5's for ideas...or look at what schnitzer released...a decent sized v8 will fit

unless you want to spend serious money on a programmable ecu and more to get it running right, then yes.
or go completely the other way with a carbs n dizzy set up.
if your car is mint and there is no question of you trading it in,then get a write off donor and have the 2 cars side by side while you swap stuff into your shell

My car isnt mint but its a pretty good example (only 89,000 miles). I have no plans to trade it in for a while so i think the conversion will be worth doing. I guess looking for a complete car is the best way.
