    Hello folks,

After entering my rat-racer 'Project Bratwurst', BMW E34 525i into the PPC challenge it was built for this year it soon became very much apparent that it needs an LSD! Traction in first gear was non-existant and second wasn't great.

So, my question is, what options for LSD donors are there? I've already concluded that E36 diffs are unsuitable unless I wish to dismantle and reassemble the diff into my casing and setting the pre-loads.

To keep things simple, first of all which E34 models came with them fitted?
As a back up, will any others fit such as E30 or E32?

    Thanks for any help.

    Smiler.

E32 was similar, and the 525 sport and the old 535 sports had LSDs.

The e32 and the 535i might be the next size up though, 210mm diffs instead of what i would expect to be the 188mm diff you probably have at the moment.

Yes I'd heard that there are different size casings. What to the dimensions refer to? Just so that I can measure my present diff to give me a starting point.

the sizes are the crownwheel diameter.
Your easiest way to check, from the comfort of your own chair is through realoem.com,
put in you details to find you car, and you'll find the diff listed there with TYP188 for a 188mm diff for example.

I had a feeling you were going to say something like that. Ok, cheers.
