I was considering installing the bmw performance air intake system for my motor, along with an eisenmann exhaust 76mm at a later date.
I asked a bmw engineer on the website justanswer.com his opinion on the system, and he told me that it does not do anything.

You can read my question to the bmw guy here:

BMW: I am considering adding the bmw performance air intake - JustAnswer

As I do mostly city driving, I find that I don't usually reach high end revs and to be honest, I find the car lacks in a little power in the low end. My thoughts were that the air intake system would open the engine a bit more and give it more response. I have had a look on the forums, but no real reviews on the system.

My questions to all you bimmer veterans here is, will the system benefit me in any way, or is this bmw guy on justanswer lying. I can appreciate that it takes more than 1 mod to truly appreciate any performance benefits, but I just wanted a little more torque in the low end as well as some deeper sound, but not chavvy like.

    thanks in advance.

A filter on its own wont do a great deal, allmost nothing. Same with just a backbox.
But if you fit the pair, and a re-map then you will notice an improvement.

My 325 is a lot quicker than when i first got it, i fitted k+n cone filter with a chip from "enda" and a supersprint de-cat exhaust ( standard back box to keep the noise down), iam 100% certain that its got plenty more poke than standard.

Intake system is a waste of money. Doesn't do much and it has a K & N filter as part of the kit. You are paying £600 mostly for carbon fibre and a modified air box lid that is supposed to swirl air

Thanks guys. I will steer clear of the intake. I've decided to just dress the car up instead.
