X2. A set of Eibach springs would be high up my list of things to do. Your insurance company should hopefully be more understanding on that mod as well.

Insurance companies aren't understanding on any mod!

As soon as the word "modification" is mentioned, they are ready to increase your premium! What a con

    - replace 02 sensor, crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor
    - check and replace perished rubber vacuum/pressure hoses
    - strip and clean injectors and refit with new o-rings
    - check for inlet manifold, exhaust manifold gasket leaks

The above should help restore the engines efficiency and performance to that of when it was new. This will also mean that any modification such as a remap etc will ensure maximum benefits due to a healthy base engine to which it is fitted.
To add to that, i'd say making sure all your suspension bushes, brakes/hoses, tyres and clutch are tip-top too. There's no sense adding power when the things that keep you on the road aren't 100%

True. I have had quotes of £100-200 more just for an induction kit. Lowering was usually just the admin fee but I do realise this may vary.

Yeah, i kinda figured stopping and turning well is just as important!

Since owning the car (mechanically wise) i have had fitted:
    New clutch
    4 new tyres
EBC grooved and drilled front brakes with greenstuff pads
Full service all filters, fluids, plugs etc
    Bottom arms
    New propshaft and uj's
    Track rod ends
Powerflow exhaust and custom de cat
Pipercross induction kit with large cold air feed
    Anti roll bar links
and alot more that a cant remeber

I have spoken to a-tech tuning and i have been told that from my m44 318is he can take the bhp to a guaranteed 165 bhp! and give it an extra 14lbft torque for £330 which sounds good and they do big throttle bodies. Was reading pbmw magazine and there was article in it about tuning 318is engines(if it helps anyone else).

So after much deliberation my new plan is:
New leads, sensors and other things mentioned by DSK (many thanks)
    Remapp from a-tech
    Englared throttle body from a-tech
    Ebc rear brakes and pads
AND just to enjoy driving the car for the time being....

Can anyone let us know if the plan sounds good, or whether im barking up the wrong tree?

A-tech is that ant? If so the guy is a legend!

I have messed about with a M44 before and to be honest unless I was going for the full 2.1 conversion I would stop at a remap and a set of Eibachs!

Yeah i think so, at least he sounds like a good ol' chap anyways, cos 330 quid to get it to 165 bhp sounds really good to me . Forgot to mention ian, i have fitted a set of bilstein springs and shocks to the car and the fronts have roller top mounts so the suspension is sorted.
