Hi I would be intrested to know your opinion....on the large number of add on power and torque boxes for my 330D E46.

some retail for as low as 85 pounds up to 300...most promise a hike of between 40 and 50 BHP on the 330D increaing 184BHP up to 235BHP is quite tempting, and lots more Torque....but what im intrested in really is the promised 20% improvment in fuel economy...im not really a speed merchant im more into just enjoying the benefits of a smoother torque curve and improved fuel efficiancy.

most promise not to affect or change any factory settings, and are easily fitted and removed in twenty minits.

i dont plan on doing anything else to my car as im not really into modding and changing what BMW have put on the car.

it would be intresting to hear from anyoone who uses these standalone units
on wether they are worth the investments and wether the claims they make are true

thanks for your help and opinions in advance

Iam not a big fan of them.. they say you will see good gains on MPG most of them fool the ECU in to thinking this..
Not telling you not to go for one.. But be 100% sure you know how they work and what they do..

Or we can offer a re-map for £280 ha ha ..

    Thanks Mike

I've always believed tuning boxes were false economy, as they just wrecked your engine in the long run?

tuning boxes are very crude, most sit between the ECU and the injectors, they interupt the signal from the ecu and change it hence more fuel=more power-thats it! Even the most expensive tuning boxes (over 1000 quid) are never going to be as good as a remap
