would the job be easy to do for someone such as myself not really knowing much about taking bits apart or isit recommended having someone that knows what their doing do it? my dad is a mechanic and although he fixes my motor, he's not really a big fan of more power and changing things from original, guess he's kinda old fashioned like that lol

By far the most difficult thing is actually taking the turbo off and putting it back onto the car. The building of the unit is fairly straightforward and I would highly recommend getting a donor turbo to build it up before you fit it. I know on my model, contrary to popular belief, you dont have to take the rocker cover off. If you remove the air filter there are 3 rubber bungs covering the 3 bolts which hold the turbo onto the exhaust manifold. Removing the bottom covers from the car and the exhaust from the turbo gives you enough room to remove the turbo. You will need a long extension bar and a knuckle adapter to get the bolts for the exhaust off the back of the turbo.

So to answer your question, to build the unit, so long as you are careful and take your time you can do it yourself. As for fitting it is a few hours and can be tricky. There is a kot of things to remember. Like priming the unit with fresh oil, the new gasket for the manifold and making sure you are safe working under the car. Also the oil feed pipe is a bugger to get back onto the engine without dropping the copper o ring lol.. all of which have to be new.

I would agree with that, as for allignment of turbo rebuild is it for the vnt and compressor housing ?

brought myself another turbo to have a play with and see if everthing will be ok for my hybrid turbo with your bigger fmic did you fabricate all the brackets for it?

Not spamming this thread at all, coz it's an amazing thread. But for those who question about decat systems on their 320d, I recently got mine done, I love the sound of it, it's abit marmite for people, but here is a video:

I will get a proper drive by video when I get a chance, but when I floor it, the turbo spools, the exhaust howls and then it doesn't sound like a diesel at all.

The turbo spools much quicker and in my opinion the car has become faster. The only mod I've done is deleting the swirl flaps, I am however planning on getting a FMIC installed sometime, a remap and have a little play with the turbo and see if I can upgrade it sometime.

Hope this helps and DV don't mind me posting this here

Doubt it mate :( it would cost me more than my car is worth to replace them. Really pissed off! And now I have to get ready to bend over and get shafted by a garage if something goes wrong with my car. I cant even change the oil anymore! Just check fluids and change a wheel thsts it :(

What's the pressure now with new turbo blades ? I have installed a MAP (theoretically 165 hp from 136), and now the turbo has peaks up to 2500 milibars, this means relative pressure around 22 psi. Do you think that the stock turbo will resist at this pressure ?
I quit addictions for my 'girl' from BMW
