Pretty sure a 1995 323 isn't fly by wire. are you confusing it with the ASC / Traction control?

The sticks and pedals in planes used to be attached to cables that were connected to the various mechanical parts of the plane so what you did at the control acted on something just like how throttle cables do,

Planes got bigger and now the controls are connected to potentiometers and controls generate electrical imputs and electronics and hydraulics do the work. This is called "fly by wire" and is the term generally used then ever your controls aren;t directly connected to what is happening.

I think Fly by wire came in on E46 o unless I am wrong you will have a throttle cable on a 1995 323
