there does seem to be some discrepency between the claimed increases between chip / remap companies. I've seen everything from 167-190 as the achievable increase.

Any thoughts on whether it's better (read: safer) to go for the lower ones? Or is it just suppliers trying to bump up their figures by a couple of ponies here and there?

    hello mate, on the site
    http://www.evolutionchips.com/.
they quote a extra 30 bhp and 60nm of torque.when you phone them they tell you thats the minimum you will gain.
the way the remap has transformed the car is excellent, its now a lot smoother,it pulls away a lot lower in the revs,
fuel economy is supposed to be 15 to 20% extra.but i normally need to fill up once a week, now its every 2 weeks,so its saving me a fortune in fuel costs.
iam very happy and cant reccomend them enougth.
just a note ,the man who did my remap, had a call from someone who had had a cheaper remap done, and now the vehicle was smoking and running rougth, and could he remap it to fix it.the answer was no, it had to go to the dealer first to probably have a new ecu.
cheaper is not allways the best option.imo
