If you buy branded name stuff, you won't go too far wrong.
For exhaust for example, anything made by a decent manufacturer like Supersprint should be fine.

Some MOT place that will make you up an exhaust from some shiny universal scraps will sound pretty noisy.

hi mate, with regards to the exhaust, I installed a full stainless steel custom exhaust 6 months ago and it was boy racer loud (not what i wanted!) I finally had enough so yesterday I fitted a 328 (1999) bosal exhaust to my 318ci. It's a single pipe with twin back box. It's sooo much quieter but has a little bit of a grunt when you step on it. Also looks OEM. Slight modification was required as the 328 pipe is wider than the 318. The garage guy used a connector sleeve and welded it together to the centre section. All in all, he said it werent too difficult to do and took about an hour.

The most of power you will get is from a remap £265-300 this will give you a stronger pull away and for over taking, much better throttle response if needed can be adjusted to give more mpg as well

exhaust will help with abit more 300-500

Induction kit will help further more in helping the engine to take more air in 255-300

Most people are happy with just the remap
