Thats because theres not a lot to do on them!! By the time you fit cams + remap , filter + zorst you are 1/2 to the cost of a 2.8 conversion.

i know my '99' 316 compacts got a kent cam in and the previous owner put a different injector rail on it but im not sure from which model and some proflex bushes, its the first bmw ive had so ive nothing to compare the gains to really, but im debating which way to go now as im getting a few grand compo,i reckon ill just flog it and buy an M3 as a good exhaust, filter and remap will prob set me back £500 without the respray after someone keyed the side.
so it prob is best just to invest in a bigger engine.

new leads and plugs as part of a well maintained car is a good bet. Might see a cleaner rev through the range but its best we all acknowledge these will make the car run 'right' , any improvement you notice will prob be due to car not running 'right' currently.

As for engine components, the 4 - bangers are not that interchangeable (if at all) with the 6's

its had new plugs and serviced regulary tho has got a slight judder on idle which apparently is common with these engines? Its goes ok thought and induction kit or something may make it bit more responsive.
