Not really a technical question, but is it really worth remapping a 118d M Sport for the amount of gain etc ?.... in terms or power/torque ?

You'll gain about 35-40 bhp and 80Nm-ish of torque, turbo diesels have huge gains, and you'll most likely even see a slight increase in MPG.

TDs have the largest gains from tuning compared to other engines.

Will this put on a par with the 120d M Sport ? I had my previous 335d M Sport mapped & saw massive gains with that. I only say is it really worth it as it's quite a low powered car.

depending on EXACTLY which 118D you have, it will have the SAME power as certain 120D's (i.e there is a 177bhp model 118D and there is a 177bhp model 120D) Basically they are all 2.0L diesel lumps, even the 116i actually has a 2.0l petrol lump in it.
So yes it is well worth remapping it to get the best possible gains and a better feel to the car with added smoothness.

    I just ordered the designated & badged 118d M Sport & it was built last week. I presume it's 143 hp ? & the 120d 177 hp ?

Right just checked a couple of things and yes your new pride and joy will be the 143bhp model and the 120d is 177bhp, so remapping the 118d will bring it upto and maybe beyond the 177bhp of the 120d.

Collecting it next Monday. As it's the wife's car I'll take it on a couple of long trips over the next couple of weeks & decide whether it's worth getting it mapped. Will PM you. Thanks
