    Hi All Newbie here,

    I was wondering if I could pick your brains. I's on my 3rd 3series - 1st 192 bhp 325Ci, 2nd 204bhp 330d and my third and most expensive a nearly new 177 bhp 320d sport convertible.

I forked out A LOT for it. I thought I wouldn't mind the drop from 204 bhp to 177. My goodness how wrong was I! Probably the drop from 6 to 4 cylinders doesn't help me either.

So, my car is under warranty till 2012 and I don't want to do anything to invalidate it, however I'd love a performance bump to take me back near the 200bhp mark. I don't even know if it's possible, or what the insurance folk would say about it, or even if my missus would let me 'waste' the money (her words not mine ).

But I would like to know what my options (if any) are.

    Can anyone please help?

Also, while I'm at it (but I expect I will have to post in another forum), I greatly dislike the gear nob (its an m spec), it's tough edges end up making you hands ache. BMW has no official alternative. Are there any 3rd party solutions?

    Thanks

    Bruce

you could retro fit a know from an older model at a gues smate if you prefered them.

as for tuning, pretty much anything is going to void your warranty. tuning boxes can be removed before services etc but do leave evidence they've been there (assuming they can be bothered to look). likewise remaps.
The jump from 6 to 4 is quite large, the BHP figures are very misleading.
