Last week I ordered the BMW perfomance short shit kit (part no. 25 11 0 444658) from Stephen James, Bromley . I picked it up on Friday and am due to have it installed this Tuesday by the same dealer.
The kit all looks very nice with it's alcantara gaiter and new shift knob etc. However, being the cynical person I am, I thought I would 'mark' the inards of my existing gearstick to be sure that the dealer actually changed the mechanical bits.
Anyway, following the instructions, both on the forums and BMW's official instruction pamphlet, I put the gear lever in 2nd and pulled of the gear stick & gaiter.
To my surprise, the existing gearshift lever looks exacltly the same as the new short shift one, (except for the colour) more specifically it had the same length.
Now it was my understanding that SSK's were basically shortned gear lever's, indeed a picture on the e90 forum diy post confirms this when old and new were pictured side by side here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102808
I appreciate that the car in that link is a 335i.
Anyway, my question is do msport spec cars come with an ssk as standard and thusly, have I wasted my time & money purchasing this kit??
My car is 2006 registered e90 330i saloon Msport.
If somebody could either put my mind at ease or confirm the worst before Tuesday, it would be much appreciated.
