Hi mate the mv rear box's are £275 all in and should see a gain of 5/7hp really. Smaller box will help the turbo spin up faster
    Thanks Mike

    Cheers for the quote,

How much would I be looking at for an MV back box & remap all in?

I've already had it remmapped via superchips, is it worth getting it re-remapped post fitting a new back box? or it not worth the expense for a minimal gain?

We would do them both for £500 but you may not need the map , but we can look at yours to see if ours would be better ..
    Thanks Mike

So I've decided that a new exhaust is in order, as it's an oil-burner it doesn't sound that great so it needs a new soundtrack!!

I've had a look on Evolve Automotive & the Eisenmann (Race) exhaust looks a good option? (£650ish).

Does anyone have any thoughts on alternatives? I appreciate being a 320d, I'm not going to see the biggest performance gains (I've already had it remapped) but i'm more interested in the noise & looks?

    All comments greatly appreciated...

    Gareth.
You don't put custom exhausts on diesels for power gains because they don't really do anything, it's the noise they're really for. I should warn you to be careful of the Eisenmann exhaust on the BMW diesel lumps as there is no noticeable difference. You may have seen a popular youtube video demonstrating one and it was my intention to buy one for my 330d but a friend of mine with the exact same car and engine has an Eisenmann race exhaust on his (rear section only, c. £850 ) and he demo'd it for me a few months so I could hear what it sounded like. Outside the car as he booted it away there is absolutely no difference whatsoever over a standard exhaust (I kid you not). In-car there is a slightly deeper and louder note but nothing to get excited over and certainly does NOT justify the £850 price tag imho.

If that sound right for you then sorry but its shite to me - even 320i got better sound, DIESEL WILL NEVER SOUND AS SPORTS CAR SHOULD - end of story.
I personally own 525d and I don't bother as its my daily car and it doesnt matter how it sound - as long as its running cheap - hence i got it. But i also own M3 and 2x 540i and i dont need any stereo there guess why.

    Evening Rob330Cd & Jankes....

I think I've got a bit of a debate going on here, personally I think its each to their own, what sounds great to one person, doesn't to another and vice-versa.

As I originally posted I'm not overly concerned with power gains from a new exhaust, just an improvement in the soundtrack.

Jankes - you point out a diesel will never sound like a sports cars, I beg to differ slighty, it no M3 believe me, but could sound better than a 1.6i with the right exhaust, which is exactly what I want to find?

Motechmike, many thanks for the reply, I'm interested, espically as the Eisenmann exhaust are going for £650 before fitting!!!! What's the noise difference compared to stock? Is that rear back box (fitted) & mapped (dyno'd? before & after) for £500?

What's the likely bhp figure? I had mine dyno'd at 163.3bhp before it was "superchipped" to 196.9bhp last November (09)

Many thanks to all for the comments & merry christmas.

    Gareth.

Stick to your guns Gareth, I am sure there is as much joy in the personalisation of your car to you, something the exhaust will do, never mind the diesel vs. petrol debate

    Morning Mark,

Cheers for the comments, as I've always pointed out I'm more interested in the noise (& looks) than anyone performance gains which would be more minimal.

The petrol vs. diesel debate will go on.......... and on..........

Hi mate.. The sound is only just a bit louder no real change.. The price is Just supply only.. We can fit it and dyno the car after but there will be a cost.

    Thanks Mike
