    Hi Guys,

I can't decided if I should remap or not, but had a run in with what must have been a mapped 325d yesterday and it was stuck to me, I could not pull away at all. So it's got me thinking about tuning again....

My car is on 125k which puts me off a bit but I'm tempted.

Any tuning companies on here, what's the cost ?

Other 535d owners any feedback good or bad?

    Cheers

There are loads of threads on here relating to the pros and cons of remapping. One thing to grasp through is adding 20/30 % more power to a 100k plus car is a strain and potentially will cause premature wear to drivetrain parts (dmf, driveshafts, Turbo etc etc)

Think of it as a average 40 something chap, all of a sudden, he has to do everything 30% quicker, that's gonna cause a problems at some point!

However with a custom remap, they can be tailored to limit the torque and power increase and focus on economy , this of course will reduce the impact but unless its economy you are looking for, personally I would avoid a remap unless you have deep pockets!

Just a thought, was the other car a Manual as I would expect this to be able to accelerate quicker than your auto too....

Yes that's what I was thinking about the reliability issues. I'm far from a boy racer anymore so don't need super speed but just feels like there's so much more potential than I have as standard.

I spent a fortune on a previous Impreza Sti getting it to 350bhp.

Might be an idea to try a mapped car and decide if its going to give you what you expect?
You could go for a mild map, say 20% power increase. From what I understand its the increase in torque that can really be the issue, best speak to one of the tuning fellas on here, I am sure they will be able to advise on what map would suit you

From the amount of threads I see on here relating to problems caused by remapping diesels I would also steer clear

It seems a bit of a pitfall! Like the temptation of more power is going to cost reliability.

That sounds very tempting, what sort of power do you increase it to ?

We see 340+hp.. But being over 100k we would over a milder map so 315/320hp..

Like I said if you free pop over and lets try it and see what you think.. :-)
    Thanks Mike
