i wouldnt fit that to my E60 530d m8!!! if anything id only fit a replacement element filter. our air filters sit down the full side of our engine in a proper case housing where as that one only attaches to inlet pipe . wouldnt bother m8 but its your call

im reviving an old thread here but was wondering if you eventually got it fitted?
    Its just that ive seen:
    E36 E39 E60 E46 E90 X5 Z4 M5 & M V8 BMW VENOM SPORT AIR FILTER + 540I & 535I 5 S | eBay

which looks like the exact same thing.
I was after a bit more of a growl but from what I can gather from this and other forums is that its not a done thing on our desiels.
I would be grateful for some advise.
    cheers

Don't waste your money, first the paper filter on a M57 engine is fecking huge and will let more air through than that thing, secondly you will have a pig of job fitting it as the OEM one hides in the rocker cover and so you will have to devise a lot of silly pipework to take the hose out of the MAP through the inspection vent and out in to a free space in the engine bay.

If you won't more induction growl, just remove the corrigated silencer pipe from the radiator cover to the air inlet hose and for even more take off the whole inspection cover.
