anyone remapped a (2005 model) 525d sport auto?

fairly happy with performance but diesel noise around town is a bit intrusive and urban economy pretty poor

wondered if a remap would affect these issues rather than being more of a power increase thing

Hey dude, sorry I missed your post. It was myself who had the 2005 530d remapped and my only regret was not doing it earlier.

You thought anymore about the remap? Red.

love my car (2005 E60 525d m sport auto touring) - but since I've been running it, there's a couple of annoying things which made me consider a remap.

    - mpg not v good, most of my driving is short, hilly, town runs - av 24-26mpg, ie 400 miles on a tank and that's driving like an old git

    - other thing is that the diesel engine is a bit noisy/rattly at times - mainly at low speeds - when accelerating. Strangely this isn't so bad lately and I think might relate to fuel - have been reading about 'advanced' fuels and plan to fill up my next fuel load with BP ultimate or similar

BMW 12 month warranty is up next month so may well do remap then, possibly an eco map or at least eco/performance combo remap as I'm fairly happy with current performance

that is bad economy, my mpg has dropped below 30 for the first time for a long time cos of all the short journeys.

after remap I get 37.4 mpg at fast m way cruising (80-90) during normal driving it drops to 34 and in town / city centre it gets 31

Speak to a guy called motech mike in here (there are others too, shop around) he did my car and I am very pleased. Mine is apparently dual mapped something or other I believe but my foot usually likes to push down.

I know what you mean with the diesel engine noise, there has been talk of avoiding supermarket fuels and doing what you do - looks like it works then...

i wouldn't trust a bmw warranty anyway but that is personal choice. Are you extedning your warranty? How many miles you got?

Seems like a remap is what you desperately need to avoid thrasping around the autobox. may well pay for itself (the remap) in the long run. Red

    got 70,000 on the clock

my mate has a 3.0 diesel saab 9.5 - his engine seems much smoother and so I was wondering if my problem was the 2.5l diesel as opposed to your 3.0 - not many posts on my particular model so diff to get feedback

at one point I was even considering changing back to petrol - my economy is crap anyway so what's the point in a diesel - do really like the car otherwise
