    All,

I have been told by a friend that I shouldn't get my 330d Auto remapped as it will wreck the auto box. I have had conflicting feedback from "pub experts" saying otherwise i.e the Auto is capable of handling more than a manual drive train ? ? ?

Does anyone have the definitive ?

Due to be remapped in 6 days time !!!!

I would have a word with the re-mappers on here, they will be able to reassure you.

But, make sure you get a quality map, our guys spend an ever increasing amount of time putting right poor maps done on the cheap.

My E46 330d Manual was done by Simon. He's very knowledgable, nice guy and his prices are reasonable. I'm very happy with his work. As has been said, wherever you decide to go, avoid the muppets who will promise you all kinds of fantastic power gains but will dramatically shorten your engine's lifespan.

I think I will go for a power/economy map, getting 40mpg on a run but 33/34 around town and would lik more MPG as opposed to BHP.

If it was a Sunday car I would go for a full race remap

Myself and a couple of mates recently had ours remapped by Simon@Emaps. Really nice bloke, knows his stuff with regards to motors and always willing to offer advice or answer any questions.

We are all really pleased with the results
I left some feedback in the Emaps Feedback section.......

Driven well on an eco map or a performance map you will still see better gains on MPG.
    Thanks Mike

    Oh dear !

I had the opportunity to get the remap don today as Simon was in the area, it's done now and it's epic !!!!!!!!!

I've just gone through £30 worth of VPower cruising the streets, I must say it was incredibly satisfying to stay with a Scooby from mid range and gently cruise past him, the look on his face when he saw this oil burner passing him was well worth the money !!!

I'm hooked now, it's remapped turbo diesels forever !!!

Thank you Simon, top job and a really pleasant fella, will definitely use you again !

I had my auto done about 3 months ago as with you I was worried about the effect on the auto box,

several thousend HARD miles in I can say there are a couple of things to watch.

    1. In D on kick down takes sighly longer to happen, then you get the full BHP which in the real world can be harse

    2. Fuel on hot days was better than standard by 5 mpg on fast roads or motorway runs, but on cold cold days is same roads is 7/8 mpg worse!

    3. traction control is a pain most corners or rounabouts are a pissing pain because it wants to spin so cuts out the power as standard I could drive harder though corners and rounabouts now the ecu cuts in because of the extra power which makes things worse!

BUT as you say its great fun seing how many cars you can upset, and BOY some of the cars are pissed..

enjoy the fun and book you car in soon for new rear tyres
