    Hi Guys

First of all I would like to say thanks to garage786 in Leicester for the great service shown to this BMW virgin today (link for garage is in the relevant section) and thanks to this forum (otherwise I wouldnt have had all the relevant info)..

After seeing all the issues with the swirl flaps I decided to get them removed for piece of mind..

    Work in action

Old Swirl Flaps & New Blanking

    EGR Dirty & Clean[/I][/I]

Clean and ready to be fitted back

    Mice & Water

Whilst doing this work we spotted a fairly deep pool of water.. just need a fish

The drainage plug was blocked.. not sure how long this has been like that

    Mouse Activity

The next thing we noticed was evidence of mice activity.. chewed threw some of the cover and also through one of the sensor wires... glad it was just the one wire

The guys fixed the sensor wires and fitted it back... no sign of the mouse...

So all done and dusted... peace of mind is achieved....

Thanks again for all the great info on this site and the garage.

    Hi
I have exactly the same model and year car as yourself which I only just bought about a month ago. I've just found out about the swirl flaps, read every single post about them on the forums and now paranoid that I need to change them immediately - especially as I have 144K mileage (but main dealer or specialist serviced)

    I'm just wondering:
How much did it cost to have the flaps done?
    Did you supply them yourself?
How long did it take them to do?
Have you noticed any difference in performance?

I'm in Nottingham and just ordered some blanks to get my mate to do asap due to potential cost.

    Cheers.

    Hi

The garage charged me £180+VAT... i know that the majority of people on here could do it themselves cheaper but I am not that into DIY and probably more of a danger to myself and others with any sort of power tools, plus my kids travel round in it and id rather have the piece of mind of a job properly done..... I'll stick with what I know in IT and let the mechanics do theres

It wouldnt be a very long job (probably about 1.5-2 hours) but they were kind enough to do other stuff for me also and look over the rest of the car for possible issues. The plates were supplied by them and I have noticed no difference at all.

For piece of mind I would get it done.

    Cheers

    Terry

Nice work and good pictures too

Anyone else notice Mark@vorny's 335i on the cover of Total BMW in the last pic?

    He will be pleased.....
