    Hi Folks,

I've got an E60 535d which i got remapped about 1 year ago. Loving it!

I am now considering a powerflow exhaust upgrade to get some more bhp and torque from it.

After speaking to the guy who would carry out the exhaust upgrade he thinks i might need another re-map or remap mod after the exhaust upgrade as the onboard computer would sense a problem with the partical filter in the new exhaust (as in there isn't one any more) and i'd have the alarm on constantly.

Anyone got any experiance in exhaust upgrades to a 535D or any other BMW with the exhaust partical filter fitted??

    Thanks, Fraser

No, but theoretically every engine would need re-tuning to go with a different exhaust to make it run at its optimum.

    Hi Buddy,

You need the DPF coded out of software.
Fairly straight forward.Ask the chap who did your remap originally to code out DPF from software and reflash the file.

He should still have your file.

    Cheers folks,

I wrote to the re-mapping company who carried out the re-map (angel tuning) tonight to ask the question. See what they come back with.

Maybe i can get the exhaust changed and just run with the partical filter alarm on until they can swing in past my area to remove it from the re-map.

Setting up the re-map again was mentioned post exhaust change out......how would they know what to change it to....would they need to dyno it first??

    Cheers,

They will (should!!!!) know how to do a DPF delete in the software.

Wouldn't worry about dyno etc as I doubt your car was dyno'd before they mapped it in the first place.

If their file writer is good this will be a piece of cake.

Keep us posted would be good to know you got it sorted when you go ahead.

Diesels don't need to be tuned on a dyno, that's just to get an idea of the power at the end.
Unlike petrols, diesels are never pushed to their full capacity, it's limited by how much smoke is produced after, which can be cleared by more boost, which is limited by the turbo, and that's also limited by the transmission to avoid transmission judder.
