    Hi guys
So i saved and saved and saved and my first car was this 03 325xi zsp.
Now i do not have much cash but this thing is completely stock, save for the bigger wheels and tighter dampners for better grip around turns.
I want alittle more power as every tuner does so...
    a) Whats a good cheap way to start boosting my performance at a mechanic without breaking the bank

    or

    b) Whats a good cheap way to start boosting my performance thats easy for someone who doesn't know much about cars

    thanks in advance everyone!

To be brutally honest, there is not a lot you can do with a NA petrol (gasoline?) engine within your parameters. A remap would likely see you a couple of horsepower (I literally mean like 10 at most) but you'll supposedly get a more responsive throttle and it will iron out any dead spots. I've not driven a remapped petrol before so can't tell you what it is actually like, but from what I've read and heard on here from other owners/more knowledgeable people.

    aww that's too bad. :/
now ik this will probably be one of the most idiotic questions you've heard in awhile, but i've checked quite a few places and can't seem to find out what a remap is.
could you give a quick overview? nothing to in depth, once i get the jist of it i should be able to figure out more online

anyone know of anything else? like changing the air intake or something of the sort? anything is greatly appreciated!

A remap changes the parameters on your ecu, to give extra performance or economy or both etc. Think of it as a superchip but instead of replacing the chip just reprogramme the one you have

Yeah, older cars would have an actual chip put in them, nowadays nothing is added except a software reprogram. I'm sure it's common stateside too so just look around. They can work miracles on diesels, but don't get your hopes up looking at those performance gains.
