    Hi there looking for some info. My vacuum pumped seized this year meaning my engine was stripped. Now my timing is out after 6month if it being fixed is this related or not ? Thanks

    Could you please remember to add the vehicle details in the title next time as per forum rules.

    The vacuum pump siezing would have caused the timing to jump yes, so it will need all the proper tools to time it correctly.

    Just new to this today will be up to scratch soon lol they garage that fixed it last are taking no blame for the timing being out which doesn't leave me much choice but to pay more money to get the timing fixed again!!!

    Bit of a tricky one this, if the garage knew E46 BMW's well or were a BMW specialist then they should have known the timing gets thrown out when the vacuum pump jams.
    It was a off shoot of the pump problem, I wouldn't expect them to fix it for the pump fix price but if they were in the know they should have pre-warned you of the damage the pump jamming can cause.

    the guy liked th make out he knew what he was doing with a bmw engine as he has a impreza rally car but obvious;y he didnt its getting booked into a bmw specialist in my area after the holidays to get it fixed. i'll know next timne to check as it damaged my pocket money for mods to my car :( cheers
