Had a price for a back box that included VAT of £190. Understanding the cost has to come up due to current VAT rise so the new price should be £194.75 based on a 2.5% rise? I have been quoted a new price of £213? Any pointers on this as I cant see how the extra £18.25 has come from? What should I say to the supplier/fitter?

If the VAT inc price is £190, the VAT excl price should be £161.70 (190/1.175), the new VAT inc price @ 20% would then be £194.04 (161.7 * 1.20). I don't see how he got £213! I would ask for a breakdown and see what he says... maybe his labour/fitting prices went up too for 2011?!

if its imported part and not an in stock part there would be vat on import to supplier then supplier vat increase on product then garage vat plus as you say labour cost plus vat this is where vat causes issues
