Here is an E92 M3, and yes ok, it is a V8.

What steps can be taken to make the 3L straight 6 of a 330Ci sound as much like this as possible. What seems missing is the earth shattering bass...but then...yes I know....it is a V8

Straight 6 will never sounds like a V8 but getting a different exhaust will make it sound different.V8's sound is unique I haven't even heard a V10 sound as good although the V12's are in another league altogether.

A quality rexhaust from someone with Remus or Eisenmann would enhance the sound a out (look for some of the videos on Youtube - they sound amazing, but do cost quite a lot; but you get what you pay for). Eisenmann also do conversions to quad exhausts.

Something like this with a quality induction kit like a Dave.F should give you a better, 'bassier' exhaust note.

To be honest, I always thought that the 330 sounds quote gruff (well it does compared to by 325).

I can't see how you'd match the sound of the M3, V config engines make a stunning noise, I've always thought that stemmed from the engine design rather than the exhaust/induction sound.

You're better off trying to enhance the sound of your car knowing it won't sound like the m3. Use youtube for various exhaust videos and possibly some induction tones (not checked the latter). I've had many V engines that sounded awesome, but in straight engines I've near always used K&N induction (not ideal on the BMW) or exhaust to improve the tone. Its not the same but good. Nur spec exhausts produce one of the deepest tones ever though I don't know if they make them for the BM.

Decat can also help a little.

lol Ta lads. As you guessed I wasn't implying I could make my 330 sound exactly like an M3, but was hinting at suggestions to make the note more beefier per say.

Interesting how some exhausts sound quite boy racer whilst others really do bring out a bassy roar. Thanks for the exaust suggestions. I'm on you tube every day with the earphones in listening to them

If you want a really bassy exhaust note stick a scorpion system on it. They're cheaper than the likes of eisennman or remus. They are loud and don't sound chavvy but they have a reputation that they drone. Not sure if they'll done on the 330 but it'll most definatley give it some base lol.

One of the site sellers deals in scorpion. I'm sure you'll be able to find a sound bite of one on you tube
