This sounds interesting, think I'll try it to see what happens.

One question though - what is the purpose of the vacuume pipe?

Is it just to reduce exhaust sound or will its disconnection from the system have an effect on other things??

    Thanks in advance,
    Psy

The object of the valve is to dampen the exhaust note a little - taking the edge off it during acceleration. It has to cause a bit of increased exhaust pressure too I guess, which will dampen power slightly - but only slightly.

Shoving a golf tee (or better still a tight-fitting screw) up the disconnected vacuum pipe so that it won't just suck in air & upset the air/fuel ratio in the engine in the engine.

That's a really good thread on the modification.
Worth a read if you're thinking about trying it - I'm going to have a look tonight.

    Will put up pics/vids.

had a look at my valve and it's open at idle, does that mean it's been modified already or does it only close at 1000+ rpm?
    thanks

the valve should close on idle...sounds like yours is sticking or has been modded

done a bit of research and it seems the valve is controlled by some electric gubbins which is prone to fail and when it does, the valve stops open so you get full exhaust flow
