Iv been thinking about re-mapping / chipping my car and now that my warranty is out Im looking to go ahead.

A friend has recommended a company to car out the re-map, however most people talk about the potential problems with the engine is there any issues re the steptronic gear box and differential when I upgrade the power as I know that power upgrades can effect a manual clutch. The cars only done 46K miles with a full SH

Is there any other concerns I should know about.

Yeah there are many of us tuners out there who all want your business and the choice can be difficult.
I myself have a E46 330d which is running approx 260bhp and 600Nm on a steptronic box and it has been running this for approx 2 months now without fault. Just to give you an idea of the gains.
Two things that you want from any tuner is warranty and insurance approval! This has helped many of my customers and they in turn have found very little increase in their premiums. So bear that in mind when you choose.

260bhp? . Aren't you overdoing it a bit with a standard torque converter? I think about 245bhp with 520Nm is the normal tuning parameter from standard.

Yep 245 is about standard but I wanted that little bit more so that is what I have got. All seems to be running fine so far without any problems whatsoever. As soon as I get the time to get it dyno'd I will try and post the graph up.

Yes it's the 204bhp model. Anyway we are getting a little off topic here. This thread was not about my car, I was purely stating that figures like what I am quoting can be gained, although the realistic gains for everyday driving is about 245bhp. Look up www.antandpete.co.uk they had a E90 330d with 320bhp and 750Nm,the diesel engine really can be streched that little bit more if you dare.

you have your opinions, many many more have their opinions and all are good. It's funny that Viezu bromsgrove get a bad rep from a minority of people. They do their best to give their customers a top service, and never let a customer go home unhappy. If they remap your car and you are not happy with their work then they will redo the work until you are happy! So how can someone have their vehicle remapped and be unhappy with the map yet still pay???
