The bottom ends are pretty strong, you hear the odd scare story about rotating bear shells (though this may just be the E36 Evo).

If you get a 50bhp ish super, you shouldn't have to worry too much, but if you go for a fancy twin-screw I'd recommend getting uprated con-rod bolts ect fitted - anyone offering to fit one should know all about this or walk away.

Anyone tried one of these ported inlet manifolds?

Looks like the same theory as the M50 manifold for an E36 328.

The things I'm not sure about are:

    a) The price - £1150!!!
    b) I'm not sure what gains are to be had / how restrictive the stock manifold is.

Does anyone know of anyone that's had it done to their 330?

Thanks mate. I'm an audi tech so would b fitting it myself as i do all my own work but dont know how much the m54 can take, the only thing is the price of it for a 50hp gain. Bit much for so little. Lol

for a little bit more money, and i meen a little more you can get 75 bhp from the charger!, and thats on 6-8psi, completely safe and reliable.
Your mates 328 convertable will have a massive struggle to get any where near 225bhp with those mods!, the car will defo be less than book bhp now, and add the mods and i would say 210bhp if lucky. you are missing 1 big point though, his car is a vert=heavy=slower than the 328 coupe 0-60, even if you do nothing and he does the intake mod, the massive torque you m54 makes will leave him behind!, and as the speed builds the torque will play an even bigger roll over his.

ps, get an m3 bonnet (aliminium), csl boot (carbon fibre) and you will have shed a load of weight with out trying!! less weight is like adding bhp to a standard car!
does any1 know what a standard bonnet and an m3 bonnet would weigh? and the same for the boot?
