its a lil plug that goes into the egr valve, it has a hole in basically reducing its size so less exhaust gas is recirculated

I think on a 2001 you can block it off completely without any eml coming on, its the later EU4 that needs a minimum 7mm hole in the "plug" to prevent the eml coming on..only problem with blocking egr is you get higher exhaust temps due to burning more oxygen and higher exhaust temps aren't good for the turbo seals..

As you know the combustion process happens withing a specific air/fuel ratio. A petrol engine has a rather narrow AF band to play in, while a diesel has a much wider one. Running lean (more air to fuel or more oxygen to fuel should be said as the oxygen is what aids in the combustion process) will create higher exhaust gas temperatures in a petrol engine while it is the reverse for a diesel engine. Running too rich in a diesel engine is a cause of high EGT's while the reverse in a petrol engine. Have a look up at what are the common causes for high EGT's in a diesel engine.

So how many of you out there have blocked off fully or semi blocked there's off?

And I'm talking about your EGR valve on your car
