Morning all, has anyone had experience with Longlife exhausts at all? There are a couple of cracks in my exhaust, so I've decided to replace the system from the front cat and removing the second cat. I've got it booked in for next week, but didn't ask if they offered discounts to BMW related forum members! any advice or shared experiences greatly appreciated!

longlife and powerflow exhausts are built up on the car from pre sized silencer boxes and mandrel bent ss tube...as such they are only as good as the guy doing the fitting.
if he knows his stuff and can bend and weld well then the exhaust will outlive the car.
more pertinent question would therefore be...is my local longlife fitter any good? lol...let us know how it all goes mate
    what i've felt,what i've known
never shined through in what i've shown.

Well, I phoned this morning and they had a spare slot this afternoon. I am pleased with the result. I had a cat back system (took middle cat out, but I still have the front cat as I had it replaced a few mths ago). Pickup when accelerating seems to be better and less hesitation (until I get a new MAF as Ive cleaned it enough and also the Turbo Vacuum Pump as ive cleaned the external filter for now!).

I went for the basic/mild sport note as I didnt want my tractor to be any noisier! They fitted it in just over an hour, and a real friendly team. One thing I like is I turned up on the off chance last week to see if they could see any exhaust leaks, they showed me some cracks and they offered to weld a tube to fix them and did not push a sale for a new system, I only enquired out of curiosity!

    Pics if anyone s interested!

Indeed Ian, I remember it well,I cant remember which E30 it was, but it was red (not as if that narrows it down!) it made a nice noise for sure!

Thanks Seb. There is a minor issue where I have an intermittent "clunk" on start up so the exhaust is touching the floorpan or one of the metal plates. I suspect it may be my engine and/or gearbox mounts that need replacing due to age and mileage (there is a legacy vibration issue at 2400RPM that became apparant after the front cat was replaced last year). After a chat with Longlife they have offered to take a look anyway. As for noise, its quieter on the motorway than around town. As for cost, the backbox, 2nd pipe decat and tailpipe upgrade came to just over 350 notes, which seemed the way to go as it is cheaper than OEM, the removal of cat to cut risk of failure plus smoother performance and a lifetime warranty.
