does the parts on the right fit to the bottom of the parts on the left!
if you look at the steering gear from the top on the engine bay you can see half the couplins turn with the steering wheel! but the wheels don't move!(rocking steering wheel 2cm up and down rotation, ) so i presume the parts i can not see are at fault! bmw have recently checked the rack and said thats ok. so there must be something under the engine lower tray that conects it to the rack, is the parts on the right that bit! and is it usually that part that fails?

in the pic the left coupling is for a 2002 model on iirc and the one on the right is for earlier models, ie yours the top bit are just corrosponing colums, does your car on a straight road drift across the road with no steering movement, this happened to me i changed mine on wed and it has sorted this out if you need any advice let me know while it's still fresh in my mind.

when you look at the couplin from the top of the engine bay, it all turns with wheel, but look at the front wheels!

judging by the video it's the same as mine change that coupling and all should be well, i just had my allinment done tonight and i just enjoyed the drive home first time in this car if i had driven it before i bought it (got it from a auction no test drive) i would never bought it, not bad for part that cost £52 from bmw well worth doing.
