Hi all, i currently have a E46 316I SE. Just shortly after xmas i will be putting either a 2.5 ( from 323 or 325 what ever i can find ) or if possible a 328 engine.

Anyways with whatever engine i will be looking some where from around 170 bhp - 190 bhp. Im looking to increase the power from there to around 250 bhp.

Will i have to go forced induction ? How much is a super / turbo charger ?

Was also planning on doing these mods before! any forced induction if i have to go down that route.

Panel Filter ( or induction kit )
    Larger Throttle Body
    Exhasust with DE-CAT pipe
Performance Cams ( or twin overhead cams if possible )
    Remap
    Port and Polish the head
    Oversize Valves
    Forged Pistons and Rings
    Forged Con Rods
    Forged Crankshaft
    Remap again if needed???

What you think ? will it see 250 bhp? or go down supercharger / thurbo route ?

    Please help - thanks

ps: id like to keep the car and do the engine swap on that and then the work on the bigger engine and not buy a new car.

One more question will it have to be an e46 engine i get or could i get an e36 or e30 engine and it will NEAR ENOUGH slot right in ?

First of all have you read this here? http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...-thread-t5773/

You will have EWS issues so this is the first thing that you need to look into so that you fully understand what you are taking on.
