:frownWell a while ago i bought another rack from a 2005 car as mine was really light and i thought it was broken, well it apears it wasn't and the new rack had the same syptoms as the old 1, only its now heavy,,,lol that was a whileago now!
Any way today i was bored and came across the old rack, i decided to undo some bolts and nosey at how it works, i couldn't get the shaft(turning) out, so decided to put back together! after wards the shaft had a load more resistance. i undid a nut that i had taken off realising that it had a strong spring behind it!, on loosening off the rack became lighter and lighter! if your rack is light, just try turning this clockwise a notch at a time, it won't damage any thing!, This has me thinking that this bolt is the retro boost that bmw used to do to stiffen up the racks,, what do you think.
