well just finished the rocker gasket, the old 1 was well and truely shafted, it was literally plastisized. a couple off hours of care full attension and the job is done, but i did notice uite a bit of gunk on the underside, and where the pipe goes into it. the pipe aswell had mayo in the end. so we will see how it goes. after a quick spin and holding the clutch in i noticed the revs were pulsing, 800-1200. a hard acceleration later and pulled up, the revs dropped to 800 and seem to be staying there.

When I did my Rocker gasket a couple of months ago, I had similar symptoms white gunk under the cover etc. I cleaned it off and gave the car a good long run, Bavaria and back 1000 miles (Not Just to get rid of the GUNK like) and it looks normal now.
If you take the oil cap off when the engine is running you will notice that there is Very Little or No oil splash lubrication which means that on short journeys the MIST cools of and ANY moisture (ie. Air has a lot of moisture in Winter) will condense at the upper areas of a motor emulsifying with the little oil that is around.

    Dunk
