First of all a Dave F and a Gunner1 heatshield will not fit.......You will have to make your own custom heatshield. Dave F and Gunner1's heatshields are designed for the E36......

everything can be made to fit

nothing is impossible and i fitted a nissan skyline induction filter to my coupe just before i sold it it and they said it couldnt be done.

there is a e39 528 coming sunday to my meet and i can ask bill to take measurements for you to make a custom one if you still want one

Proof was fom Dave F himself. The heatshield is designed for the E36,He also made one for the E46 but not for the E39 If you want a heatshield for the E39 you have to fabricate it yourself.

This question was raised when I organised the last ever E36 Dave F group buy

You would have to fabricate a new heatshield, the cone would fit. But there is far more space and the inner wing is a totally different shape on the e39 so the dave F heatshield wouldnt seal against the bonnet or inner wing.
