    hi..

i am keen for an m50 manifold on the car.. e36 328i

i like to do things by the book so spoke to my current insurers admiral..

    the response -

'they will cover the manifold and the induction kit for an extra 70quid, they wont touch it if throttle body has been changed or it has been "chipped" we dont cover it if it has to go on the rolling road'

im keen to do the conversion, but is it worth it if i cant put a new throttle body on it?
will it make any difference just m50 and induction kit?
whats the score with remapping for the m50? can anyone shed any light on this for me?? can i just get it 'set up' right without a full 'chip'..

sorry im a newbie to bm ownership but really fancy this mod.. rather than rewrite anything please put me in the right direction..

    THANKS!!!!!

You will want the manifold from a E34 525i or an E36 325i.
The 320 is no good, its not much better than the manifold on the 328 and you will get hardly any benefit. The 2.5 manifold is bigger inside which is where you get the gains...
You can use the 328 throttle body with an adapter plate. Also a remap is not 100% necessary as you will feel the benefit straight away, but to get the best out of it a remap is the way to go....

I would change your insurance mate.

My insurance classed my M50 conversion as an intake modification which includes filters, throttle bodies and manifolds and I think I payed about £16?

The M50 conversion will work fine with your current throttle but obviously a Big bore would benefit greatly.

To get the full benefit from the M50 manifold a remap is perfect but not necessary.

Your car should be able to be mapped through the OBD (pac man) port in the top left of your engine bay. There are plenty of more than suitable vendors on this site that will be able to help you too.
