Hello all hope all is well in the Bimmer world.
I have a little problem I hope one of you will be able to help me with.

I've got a 318tds touring and I've got a chip off e-bay that should give me 122bhp I've followed all the instructions that came with it, one small problem when I opened the cars ECU there were 2 chips side by side and the instructions don't say which one to change

    Any Ideas ?????
    Cheers

Sorry mate, but there are 2 chips in these. The ebay seller should have told you this....

I dont personally know the ins and outs, but apparently you cant just change the 1 chip....

Chips off Ebay are rubbish and do not work-do not be fooled by these Ebay offers-use a genuine chipping company with a good reputation

    What he said!

Seriously, if you're thinking of paying less than £200, forget it. I'd imagine these eBay "chips" are just a glorified revision of the old resistor method. I'm not a fan of chipping petrols unless you've done a fair amount of other work beforehand, but with a diesel, you'll see immediate gains. However, do the sensible thing, and take it in to a garage who specialises in that kinda thing - Paying £30 for something from eBay and soldering it in just isn't gonna cut it.

ok dude, i have a 325tds, there are 2 chips and both need to be changed! i had the same problem but i found a company in germany that supplied me both chips for 70 quid, delivered!! il have a dig around for the contact details and let you know. oh and by the way the power gains were the nuts, my old bus is faster than my mates 325 petrol, the torque is awsome!!!

There are 2 chips one for fuelling and one for boost. If your getting them "cheap" then they will be generic and not specific to your engine, and you definitely wont get 122bhp out of the 318tds... about 115.. I have one .

well i fitted the 1 chip myself last night and i can honestly say that I'm surprized by the result.
it runs alot smoother and is quicker.
there is this long incline quite near my house and before i fitted the chip if i had a standing start at the bottom it would just hit 70mph by the sign at the top.
after fitting the chip it got up to 85mph well before the sign so it's definetly better.and only a slight increase in smoke.
(the wifes Ibiza fr tdi hits about 120mph)
