    Or, if you don't have that kind of money, for now you could stick to putting in an induction kit!

    Why are you lot so quick to assume everyone has got loads of expendable cash - enough to just quick as a flash drop in a bigger lump?!

    an induction kit isn't exactly going to do a lot except make a better sound you may get a couple of HP but you would have to have a heatshield and cold air feed to make sure though.For a couple hundred quid you can put in a bigger lump-There's a 2.8l one been sold on here for £350 which will be the best gains in HP for the money you can get.

    By the time you have added up, induction kit, chip or remap, silly cat back exhaust, and other things. Then told the insurance about the mods. That will be enough cash to buy a 2.8 or 2.5 engine...
    You will never look back after fitting one of those....

    But wouldnt an engine change be noted as a BIG 'mod' which any insurance company would look at with .

    I wonder how an 318i with a 328engine swap would compare to a standard 328i in terms of insurance
