A Dave F kit passed my limit on eBay tonight selling for £216! So going to go for the cheaper alternative.

I'm looking at the K&N kits instead as I know the Dave F uses the same 57i filter, just has a different guard.

What's the filter the Dave F kit uses? Is it this one? http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RC-4690 If anyone can measure up.

Looking at the 57i kit, it doesn't seem to have the 2nd tube/filter to bring air across like the Dave F does, or I might be missing something.

    Cheers,
    Nick.

    I got this one:
    http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=57-1000

For about £150 off eBay. It looks like the big cone used with Dave-F kits, I'll get pics when it's fitted.

    hi mate
i bought one of those a few months back for £36 minus the heatshiled got one from Bill(gunner1)who just custom made a batch £39 delivered.

£150 does sound a little on the heavy side ££ but hey you'll only fit it once so enjoy.

Yeah it was the cheapest I found new with shield, I'm rather impatient so had to buy it, lol.

As long as I'm happy with it once fitted, it'll be worth the money in my books, we'll soon see.

I have just changed the standard air filter in the air box for a K&N no noise increase and a big difference in engine responce

would an induction kit make much difference (over a decent upgrade filter in the air box) on a normally aspirated car, I don't want the boy racer sound as I don't think the car has the grunt to match

To be honest mate it all depends on what car you have. On a 205 GTI 1.9 a K&N Induction kit makes a big difference, yet on a Golf GTI MK2 8v it reduces the power. I think it's trial and error and I have found Google to be my best friend with this. Simply type in for example 'Honda Civic Type R K&N induction kit reviews' You will then be greeted by a load of sites that you can browse through, and lets say with your car you might find someone has said 'Very sad, no improvment' Well then that's saved you £80 on an induction kit

I was given a Pipercross Viper the other day. These retail at £200 in shops so I bought a Pipercross cleaning kit and gave it a real good clean. I'm going to fit it to the wife's E36 318is Coupe over the weekend and see if it makes a difference. Most reviews on this filter have found they have gained an extra 3-5 horses with before and after's on the rollers.
