OK so i have been trying to prep this install, I finally think that I am there and ready...

I have bodged the side pipe -

I got a 25mm ally bung. The fit was loose so i bashed the pipe a bit to make it tight knowing i was going to use hot glue gun to stick this bugger in.

    result.

the mrs cannot pull it out and nor can I!

Will fit over the weekend and report back with pics!

Well, finally got it fitted in between rain showers...

Will have to get a heatshield sorted for it long term.

I am not sure if it has released any more horses as it is a bit damp out today but by heck it sounds mean when you open it up!!!

Thanks to all those who took time to reply to my questions!

Maybe you should change the manifold and unlock the power that is lurking underneath that awsome engine. 192 bhp you have 170 now.
    My BMW history= E36 318IS, 323I,Mini Cooper, E46 320 D SE and now E39 530D. awesome

you'll have to replace the exhaust too, in order to get the whole 192 bhp. but mani is a good start! congrats on the intake kit, looks nice! but you'll defo have to get a heat shield as well.
There are only two products required to make the universe work properly: Duct tape and WD40.

If it moves (and it shouldn't): duct tape.
If it doesn’t move (and it should): WD40.

    Everything else is just stuff.

I will have to look at that in the new year when funds allow with xmas and all...

I did spot that there may be someone selling some heat shields in the new year so i will probably get one of those

I did take it out for a spin late in the afternoon and I do not know whether it was psychological or not but it did feel a bit quicker on acceleration. Sounds bloody marvelous though!!!!
