    i had a rolling road done a while back garage said it looks like the vanos aint kicking in properly i dont understand powercharts but can anyone assist its a 1997 m3 evo convertible should be running at 321bhp at flywheel however only pushing 276bhp thanks in advance hopefully someone can say if the vanos is doing its job or not

    most power problems on these cars are to do with the vanos as they get older the solenoids stick or pack up and stop the cam advancing or retarding might just need new o rings(£50) or new solenoids (expensive) there are not many places that work on these so try mr vanos up north

    Or since your down south, look up Iridium engineering in Southampton. I know for a fact he fixes vanos issues and from what I remember talking to him (his name is Sean) he ven has a titanium replacement unit but it's expensive.

    I would recommend his services majorly! The guy knows his stuff when it comes to BMW's

    yeah i was gonna get in contact with him again spoke to him ages ago had car booked in but had crashed it so couldnt get there just wondered if someone knew bout powerchart then they maybe able to say if its worth getting it looked at or not as spoke to a place called etech in portsmouth and he says vanos units dont need timing up u just slot teeth it and ur ready to go seems they know fook all about vanos units
