    Hi guys,

After reading certain threads about induction kits and particularly the Dave F kit I have decided I want one .

Im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to cars and tuning. Would someone mind just telling me the significance of a heat shield? From what I have researched it is best to have one to aid in performance of the kit (assuming im right here )

    Many thanks

Good luck trying to get a Dave-f as he has stopped making his...

The heatshield stops hot air from the engine been sucked in.Hot air is bad for combustion so you will lose HP if you do not use a heat shield.

Be very careful about adding an Air Filter to a BMW, a lot of them reduce power. A lot of the time your best bet could be a K&N panel filter.
Just advice mate, not trying to scare you off....

Thanks STK. I know can't find a Dave F anywhere . Would you know if the K&N 57i would be a good choice instead?

Thats probably the next best thing....In the Dave-F the filter is much bigger.

A 2nd hand Dave-F went for silly money on Ebay the other day....

im currently looking for a Dave F kit.... no luck so far
well rare, if i cant find one ill be going with either a viper kit (no noise but better performance)
or a K&N (loads of noise but less performance)

heatshield worked treats on my 328i mate

Thanks for your comments and advice guys much appreciated . I may get slated with what im about to say but hey..... I am not too fussed about performance and can accept a mild decrease, it is the sound that I really am after just think it will compliment the little golf tee mod I made not long ago
