Well, I've just done the head gasket test and all seems ok( unless I've done the test wrong, it's been a while!!).
I've filled the header tank, and had the engine running for about 15-20 minutes. There's no water underneath, other than the little bit I spilt.

But I have a smoke issue, when revving it's pushing a fair amount of smoke out.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Cheers Frank.

PS, v8monleyboy, I'll be in touch after the weekend, thanks.

Oil smoke could be down to blocked breathers or bore wear i guess.

    I'll find out on Tuesday...

1 question, can I chop a coil off the springs to lower it?

You can, but don't go too crazy.
Cutting a coil will lower and stiffen the springs as you go.

I know, I've done it on my Porsche 924.
I'm only planning on cutting 1 coil out of each spring, I just haven't looked at the springs yet to see if it was possible.

I'm trying to do as much as possible either, very cheap, or for free, to make sure I'm well under budget for the PPC £999 challenge.

I accept beer money from any distance

    or just send beer...

Sadly, I've only got the engine spare - not engine, loom, ecu, etc. - I've just swapped the metal lump, for a (hopefully) less oil thirsty version, so you'd need a lot of extra bits too to make it work in your compact... and its still a worn engine which is why I've swapped it out...

Right then, I'm just putting a quick post here, because I haven't posted enough to put it in the parts for sale section.(apparently you have to post 100 times)

I'm removing the complete, black cloth, interior, from the 328i. Including the dashboard, heater, boot interior.

It's being stripped for the PPC £999 challenge, after the challenge the rest of the car is being broken. Everything is available, except for the engine and box, because that is going in my Lotus 7 project.

If Anyone's interested in it, or any parts of it, please PM me.
If you send me your email address I'll send you some pictures.
I'm open to offers, it's got to go, it's all located in Matlock-Bath, DE4 3NS.

Mate, you're not allowed to sell on here because you haven't reached the post count.

Posting on this thread instead to get round it won't go down well with the mods.

I just thught I'd offer it all to you guys on here, seeing as I'm not allowed to post in the correct section, my only options are to post here, or bin it.

But if it's going to upset people, I'll just throw it in the skip, I just thought it might help somebody out with their E36 project.

I don't even want much for it, I just want it out of my way.

But ok, if it might upset people, it's no longer up for grabs, unless you want to go to my local landfill at Slinters quarry, Cromford.

I just think that is daft, I have BMW parts that are going cheap, and might help out a fellow forum member, but I'm not allowed to post them up for sale in the right section, because I've only posted on here when I've got something to say, rather keep posting pointless rubbish all the time.

Would 1 of the mods be willing to post my ad in the right section?
( I doubt it, I'll probably get moaned at for breaking the rules, it's not like I've abused or upset anyone, or have I?)
