Hi I've just bought my 328i and was wandering what are the best things to do to get some more power/quicker acceleration?

I've looked at K&N panel air filters but can't work out if this is worthwhile? Any ideas?

    Also exhausts again any ideas?

    Thank you.

IMO, just get an ECU remap and leave it at that.

Exhausts/filters will cost more than a remap and offer no real benefit whereas a remap will.

Have a look at MotechMike in our traders section, he may still have an offer one.

Also Garage786 (BMW specialists and tuning specialists) in Leicester who cater for all my cars map a lot of BMWs. http://www.bmwspecialistleicester.co.uk/

ECU remaps tend to be around the £350-500 region depending on the map/tuner etc however it is the most effective upgrade. Basically they plug a computer into the car and upload a new software map to replace the original map.

this is something ive been looking into recently it all depends on your budget. a remap is a good place to start but one of the biggest modifications for the 328 is the m50 manifold swap, this is a 325i manifold and frees up anything up to 30bhp

another mod is lightened flywheel and clutch assembly from an e30 325i.

aswell as camshafts from a us M3 motor

How much would I be looking at for the manifold? Can I do that myself? I guess with regards to the lightened flywheel and clutch do you reckon that's be an ebay buy? Again how much/how hard to do? Thank you

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Is it as straightforward as it sounds?
