    Hi,

I have a 1.9 Z3 and although it's lots of fun, i would like it to have a bit more kick to it. Can any recommend some things i could be looking at doing in order to get more from the little fella. And i'm not on about dropping a new engine in or going too extreme. i just wondered what little measures i could take to maybe squeeze a little more out of it with the plan to go a bit madder over time. what's the best thing i do to to start from scratch without breaking the bank?

    cheers

    sorry, it's a 1997 1.9 Z3

don't want to start the old discussion about bhp gains etc but don't be too disappointed if you don't see a lot more horses. An individual remap is always benefical IMHO, but the gains depend largely on how 'bad' you car is. Some engines are bang on and there is very little to gain. Individually mapping a car is only adjusting your ECU to your existing hardware.
Car manufacturer need to map cars to run in all conditions and all countries. A mapper can modify some safety settings in your ECU to gain a few ponies but he can't produce miracles. If your current hardware is good only for XYZ bhp, then there is nothing more to gain.
To get more power out of an engine you need to increase the volumetric efficeny, meaning you need to get more air in.
To achive a noticable gain you need to change more than just the airfilter/induction kit etc.
E30 M3 track rat. 'til rust do us part......
