Hi, i have just purchased a 'K&N Gen II Induction Kit' and awaiting delivery. Can anyone please tell me what performance upgrade it will give me on my 'BMW 328i Coupe E36'.

    Much appriciated, Griff.

Negligable-you'll get a better sound and if it doesn't have a heatshield then you'll lose HP but you probably won't see much gains in HP.You'll have better throttle response though

Hi, the heatshield comes in the pack, and i am going to put a cold feed direct to the area were the heat shield will be.

just fitted one on my 323, got a m3 front bumper so fitted an air hose to the brake duct. much better throttle response and pulls a lot better as well.and that induction noise worth fitting the kit for that alone

If you want better HP then, and this also applies to Kenny, get an M50 manifold conversion done Member alpina527 here does a kit which will fit your engines without any airleaks

I have that exact CAI on me e36 323i, its fantastic and you made the right choice by getting the heat shield too

If you dont mind, could you please post some pics of your hose directing the air from the brake duct as this sounds like a good idea.

One note I have just thought of though, spray from the road being sucked up the pipe? I cant imagine it being much but maybe somebody on here can enlighten?

Also if you do go for the M50 manifold kit, there is a perfect place in the left side of the heat shield to fit your Intake temperature sensor ( I cant remember what it came off but there is a rubber bush that you can fit in the hole to make it a snug fit ) as you will find that the OBD2 is different to the OBD1 and you will need to iether leave the old IAT in the M50 manifold or blank it off with a bolt.
