Hi everyone, relatively new to BMW ownership (4 days!)
Have bought a well cared for Madeira violet 320i touring and despite a few minor issues is proving to be a nice ride.
I chose the 2.0 litre as I'll shortly be moving abroad to Norway where car importation tax is unbelievably high and based on cylinder capacity and BHP output. The more of each, the more it costs. To give an idea, I bought the car here for 800 pounds and I will need to pay around 2000 pounds to import. Still, beats paying the 6000 pound price tag for the equivalent car on the local market.
So I've settled on a 2.0 litre as its a nice smooth 6 cyl with a reasonable power output. Question is, how do I get more!?
I work as a foreman in a motorbike workshop, so am up to speed with the principles of tuning/filters/cams/intake/exhaust/ECU mapping. What I'd like to know is has anyone here actually had any genuine positive results with upping the power of the 2.0 litre engine. There are so many false claims made by so called tuning specialists, so I figure this is the place to get a straight story. I am hoping to acheive around 170bhp.
Any companies/products that are recommended?
Also need to change oil, filter, plugs. What plugs are best for this engine and what oil is recommended. Looking at the service history, I can see fully synthetic on the invoice, although no indication of oil viscosity/weight.
Will be changing a leaky thermostat housing this weekend, any special coolant recommended?
Thanks in advance for help. Oh, and anyone got any 17" alloys they want to sell? Can't stand looking at the standard 16" crappies it came with.
